Not sure. I did once see Red Skelton live on stage near the end of his career, and during the entire show there was a young woman translating in American Sign Language for the audience. When Mr. Skelton needed a break, he asked a stage hand to bring him a glass of water. He took a drink, paused, sighed and commented on how nice it was to have a glass of water to ease his throat. He turned to the young woman who was signing, paused again, then asked if she would like to wash her hands.

Is that close?
