Yes, I'm going to take it here. Why is it that I see so many Afr. Am. men with their hair beautifully natural, with twists, locs, cornrows, afros, but Afr. Am. women with natural hair are few and far between? Why do I see and hear so many stories about Afr.Am. women who take so much crap from their men for going natural? Why is it that Afr. Am. women can so lovingly and tenderly grease her man's scalp and cornrow his beautiful kinks and coils, and then turn around and throw the creamy crack into her own hair, and sometimes even her young daughters hair as well? Why do I get weird and crosseyed looks and negative comments from Afr. Am. men, who themselves are sporting a sexy afro or dreads for not having my own hair "done"? Why did it take me 5 years of bickering and argueing with my husband, all the while lovingly maintaining his beautiful coily hair and scalp for him, to convince him that my hair is beautiful natural, and does not need to be straightened? WHY, WHY, WHY????

Blame it all on the media how many time do you see natural black women being called beautiful . Blacks have been brainwashed to believe Afro features, hair ,color, etc,are not beautiful which caused self hatred so now black women want to look more European by straightening their hair ,wear contacts ,etc
Our men have been programmed to like certain look in a black woman (if they want a black woman at all ) .
I mean it 's ridiculous, so girl rock your fro, and be the beautiful strong sister that you are. Hopefully it won't be too late when they realize it's all a conspiracy for self-hatred so Whites can feel superior . My opinions not facts and aim not a racist just observations of facts

Girl! You're speaking my life story. I'm a young 16 year old Dominican/Jamaican sister who rocks a natural fro and a year ago I had long relaxed locks down to my back.Men used to flock to me like a magnet when I wore my hair relaxed and long. But ever since I cut it and it's grown into a teenie-weenie Afro the men all of the sudden disappear and started complaining. Now they say rude comments like"Baby what happened to you're hair? it used to be good and long." or they would say that I need a relaxer. It makes me so mad how I've taken crap from my brothers because of this. This shows how the us Black Americans our self-hating. All I have to say for you is don't go for those loser men who are concerned with your hair texture. A true man will love his woman no matter what she does to her hair. I want to be with a man who is proud of me and my beauty. I want him to lovingly grab my fro and tell me that he loves me from my head to my toes.

To the idiots saying that kinky/curly hair is unmanageable please shut up. You've obviously never worn your natural hair out before. It's so easy to take care of. Just moisturize your hair properly. I can manage mine and it always looks beautiful. Oh yeah and the reason why most black women wear a straight weave is because there's barely any natural hair weaves or because they're a self hater. Hence the reason why you see several black women wearing blonde weaves with blue contacts. I mean there are some black people with blue eyes and blonde hair but that's a small percentage. I don't wear weave often but when I do, I try to look for one with a similar texture to mine. But the very kinky curly ones are super expensive. There are some black people with real hair textures that look like an Indian weave so some with that texture wear the weave with that texture cause it looks similar to there hair. I can get my hair to look like that although it's shorter.

It's not just African Americans who act this way. I have beautiful curls, but if I dare wear them naturally, everyone compares me to a poodle. I cringe every time I watch a "makeover" show, because the first thing they do is rush to straighten the victims hair.

Lady, what in the hell are you talking about!

I know many AA women who wear their hair naturally. I also know more AA women who prefer to sew fake hair into their heads.
I also remember not so long ago when if a brotha wore his hair in a natural or corn rows, he was teased by blacks and made fun of because he did not put relaxer in his head and make his hair look like Prince or Morris Day from the Time.

The morale of the story... wear what you want, date who you want and don't let this crazy *** society try to mold you into what they think you're supposed to be.

You know, in Africa, they don't have these issues. Might I suggest moving there?
