i have bought nearly every thing in the shops to get tv on my computer but none works can i download it for free from the net if so how and where

You can watch loads of films and tv shows by going to www.peekvid.com or you can try TVUplayer and Sopcast (try searching on google) you can get quite a few channels on those, not all great quality though.

Thats the only one that springs to mind but why not just watch on-line? The TV beta can tke up a lot of space on your computer.

It really depends on what you mean by "tv"
You could use JLC Internet TV - at least it's free but is it "tv"?
