I am an avid horror fan and the movies you have listed are new-age horror stuff. You need to go old school to find the real scary stuff!

The Exorcist....if you are a Christian then this movie will make you flip out.

Psycho (original) it will keep you on the edge of your seat and then throw you back in terror.

The Shining (original) This movie made Jack uber-famous, and he will freak you out. Watch it on a cold evening, no lights, with popcorn and hot chocolate. Scary stuff.

Now if those three movies above don't scare you then maybe horror films aren't your thing.

Try these suspense film:

The Silence of the Lambs

Se7en

Try these slasher/horror film:

Halloween

Texas Chainsaw Massacre

I would also recomend The Blair Witch Project, it gets some people, I didn't like it but I have friends who love it. Jacob's Ladder is good too, not horror per se, but something that will freak you out. If you like Stephen King horror books, then go rent Carrie, the best Stephen King book adapted to film. The BIrds, The Sixth Sense, Jaws, Rear Window, are just a few others that horror fanatics (like myself) would put in our top lists...

I hope all this helps, now go watch and be afraid!

The Grudge 1 and 2 !!! if you're not scared with these movies, try going to www.ghosthouse.com or just search for scary pictures or movies, and you'll see
true-to-life scary, creepy videos and pictures.

Gruesome doesn't always equal scary. Sure, there's blood and guts and creepy characters, but I think a true scare comes from normal everyday things. Like in the movie "Duel" (Steven Spielberg)... One character, on the road, being basically stalked by a psychotic faceless trucker with severe road rage issues... Now that's scary to me.

I think saw is scary. The ring definately NOT scary.

The scariest movie in my opinion is the oldie "Children of the Corn"

Try watching Chucky/Child's Play, at age 5, that's freaking scary!

It sounds like you watched the re-done version of the Exorcist. Try the original version with Linda Blair, I think it was made back in the late '70s and was rated R.

personally i do not think Hollywood makes scary movies anymore...i know some people think the Texas chain saw massacre was scary...not me really...the only two movies i thought were scary was nightmare on elm street (the first Freddy Kruger movie) and candy man. i thought those were scary when i first saw them.....that was years ago....good luck on trying to find a scary movie...they just don't exist anymore

for me the scariest movie was the original Salem's Lot. Growing up, the town I lived in was very similar to Jerusalem's Lot and there was a house in my neighborhood, that sat by itself on a hill next to a cemetery that reminded me of the house Barlow from the movie lived in. Also, after watching that movie, I use to have nightmares where the brother who died, would wake me up scratching on my window to let him in. I had my parents move my bed away from the window after that.
