Im nearly 27 weeks pregnant. Baby doesn't seem to move around that much at the moment, only occasionally over the last few days. I am beginning to get a little worried but don't want to go tearing off down the hospital to sit there for 5 hours and then be told everything is ok. I know that not all babies are really really active, and that there is a stage that they become more active? Does anyone know when this is? Im going to ring my midwife, who will be in my local surgery tomorrow, just to be on the safe side. Has anyone out there had this problem before?

Each pregnancy is different. Everything sounds normal to me but, you do need to be cautious. You are doing the right thing by calling the midwife. Never hesitate to call when you have a question. Your baby's life is whats important and you are responsible for it. Good luck!

Try to keep a account of how many times in a day your baby moves if possible. In most cases, babies move more in the evening than during the day. So your baby could be moving around more when you're fast asleep . If this still becomes a concern for you please contact your Pediatrician or midwife right away. But I'm sure it's not a problem, I had experienced the same thing around my 26th week of pregnancy, and I was a just being a little anxious. Good luck dear.

Hi,
any time you are worried you should go to a DR and get checked.
I know it is a pain to sit around for hours waiting to be seen but just think. What if those hours sitting around were the hours that saved your baby by being there.
Having said that... I dont think it is too much of a problem until about 28 to 30 weeks.
My DR told me if you feel at least 10 kicks a day it is ok.
If you are busier than usual you might not realise bubs is moving. Also as babies get bigger there movements change, instead of the big body movements you start getting jabs and kick..
But please do call your midwife in the morning.

When I was pregnant with my second child I had the same thing. I spent my whole pregnancy worrying that something was wrong with her because I think I can remember feeling her move maybe three times. My first pregnancy, the baby never stopped moving. When she was born, she had ten fingers and toes and couldn't have been more perfect. There was absolutely nothing wrong with her. If you feel more comfortable asking, then do so. The added stress with worrying is not good for you or the baby. The doctors will not mind checking things out for you. Number one, that's what they get paid to do, and number two, they do care and will be happy to make sure your baby is okay. Good luck and congrats!!!

Is the baby moving at all? As long as there is movement, you're okay. Even if the movement is just the baby opening and closing her hands. But if the baby stops moving, PLEASE get checked out immediately. My friend lost her baby at 38 wks to a cord accident. Don't ever feel stupid calling the midwife!!!! It's better to be wrong than to have a problem and not get it diagnosed.

I suggest you get a stethoscope...you can then listen to the baby's heart beat to confirm all is well. Some babies move more than others, some days they are more active than others. If you worry excessively, see your GYN or nurse!

Worrying is not good for the pregnancy or the baby (or you). Your baby may be just a very laid back kid, comfortable!
Have your nurse show you how to find the baby's heart beat!

Sometimes they don't move around a lot during the DAY. I know someone who had that problem. He only moved around at night, so sometimes she missed the movements. Turns out, her working and moving around during the day rocked him to sleep, and the movements that WERE there weren't felt as much, because she was busy. He's 3 1/2 now & healthy as can be.
