I've been putting the solution on it. It was done with a gun. I know it's better to get a needle and that was my own fault. I got it down about a week ago. Any suggestions without taking it out?

first of all you have to turn it so keep on.that keeps the skin from attaching to the earring so you can eventually change it.. keep putting the solution on 2-3 times a day.. keep you hair pulled away from your ear b/c your hair chemicals from your shampoo and if you use hair spray or gel will make it worse and it is really painful when your hair gets wrapped around it.. gun is best to pierce with b/c with a needle you could have got the hole crooked.. when i got my top pierced i could not sleep on mine for a week and i could not change my earring for about 3 months b/c it was so sore and it took about 6 months for me to be able to change the earring w/o it really hurting and being red afterward but it still drained for almost a yr so what you are experiencing sounds normal unless the draining gets bad like where you can squeeze it out then i would worry but keep an eye on it b/c the top is very tricky.. please give it a couple more wks before you do something like take it out. but if you are really worried something is wrong for your piece of mind go to the doc but right now you sound fine.. hope this helps..

Sorry, but it sounds like you need to have a doctor look at it. My first inclination would be to consider that you may be allergic to the jewelry, but most people who have their upper ear pierced already have other piercings as well....and these you don't mention, so I'm assuming there are no problems there.

So it sounds like for whatever reason your ear has become infected. And because it is a piercing and not just a surface injury, I would definitely get a doctor involved. Especially if you want to try and "save" the piercing.

Be ready to consider the possibility that you will have to remove the jewelry and take oral antibiotics until the ear heals up. Of course you would probably have to have it repierced later, but better to be healthy and pain free than have a little bobble in a red, swollen, hurting ear. I just wouldn't go back to the same individual who did this piercing for you. Ask the doctor - he can tell you what probably caused the infection, and when or whether you could tolerate another piercing in that area once it heals.

Wishing you all the best -

Could be you are sensitive to the metal as well as having an infection. The upper ear isn't as much blood circulated as the lobe and infections take longer to heal because of it. I'd keep putting on the antiseptic solution, then some Neosporin around the area and keep turning the earring. Also, hair products and other cosmetics might clog up the area and cause irritation. If there is discharge, I would consider removing it to let the area heal, otherwise, if it's red and painful only, I'd give it a few more days.

An upper ear piercing, for some reason, is harder to heal. I have 2 in my upper ear and they were both VERY sore for a long time. I finally had to put rings in with smaller posts than the ones that the piercer used. This seemed to take care of it. But since yours is still pretty new don't try that yet. Wait a few weeks, if they're still really tender, than try smaller post ear rings. Good Luck.

ok you need to wait it out, its gonna hurt, be red. I did my with a gun and have no problems now, i did it all the way up, the hardest thing was chaging all of them. **** the needle, get the gun. Needles are painful, and yuck. guns are quick easy a lil pain but better

Don't take it out! The infection could get trapped inside. The BEST thing to do is soak in warm, salty water for a while, once or twice a day. Salt kills the bacteria. Trust me this works!

Sorry to hear that! Must be painful! But don't worry it's part of the healing process. It takes about a month to heal so you have to be patient, just make sure you don't sleep on the side you pierced on, fine?!.....

don't turn it! you are ripping off the scar tissue and you need this. take warm showers to get the gunk off. also, there is a spray 'bactine' that i like to use. it has a slight numbing agent as well as fights bacteria. just let it heal. you put a hole in your body - it needs to heal! b.t.w. i have many peircings, ears and elsewhere. good luck.

Put ice and wet(cold water) on it. Try hydregin perocide, too.
If this doesn't work go see a doctor.

Hope it gets better. My cousin got her's done and she got an infection. =(
