Well, sort of. You may find that for a week or so leading up to labor your appetite may wane a bit and you will not feel like eating much, and many women also report increased bowel activity, so in a way, your system is clearing itself out in preparation for the birth.

Having a relatively clear digestive tract can make things more comfortable - women who go into labor on a full stomach often throw up, and those who haven't been to the bathroom for awhile end up passing gas (and sometimes more!) right there in the delivery room.

A lot of times before labor you will end up going to the bathroom a lot to have a BM. This is your body's way of trying to clean itself out.

Usually. I had diarrhea pretty bad for a couple of days before I went into labor. My sister's had similar experiences.

Nope. More often then not, the cleansing takes place while you are in labor or pushing.

I've been a little worried because I've heard sometimes you poo during labour, but I have heard that your body does indeed get rid of everything before the labour. However when the time comes, if you did have a little accident, you won't care, and the midwifes will have seen it all before!

define cleans..usually everything runs through you so your on the toilet
