Factor the quantity under the radical and pull out the perfect squares. In your case:

18 = 2 * 3^2

You have one perfect square. The square root of 3^2 = 3, of course, so

18 sqrt(18) = 18 * 3 * sqrt(2) = 54 sqrt(2)

just simplify inside the radical and find the highest square which in this case is 9 so 18 sqrt of 9 x 2 , the sqrt of 9 is 3 so the answer is 54 sqrt of 2

think of the biggest perfect square in the number inside the radical...in this case...
18√3^2 x 2
then you multiply it to the number outside
18 x 3√2
and you get your answer which is...
54√2
