Those climbers on Mt. Hood risk the lives of the innocent people who have to rescue them, is that fair? And should the "rescued" reimburse the rescuers instead of the tax payers (who are at work, not on top of mountains!)

Okay, don't bring Jesus into this, He's smart enough not to climb mountains in the wintertime.

It is within each of us to do what one can in order to save the life of another. But there are limits to the extreme degree of risks that the rescuers are expected to reasonably take.

And YES, the individuals who place themselves into harms way should either have to pay a sizeable fee following a rescue, or the estate should have to pay a fee following a body recovery.

Should we pay for the STUPID DECISIONS made on the part of another? Should I be allowed to climb Everest if I've only climb the hill in Grandma's backyard? There should be skill levels certified or you don't go. Period. There comes a point when those who put themselves in harms way must be accountable for the financial burden it places on a community or service provider if things go wrong.

I also wonder why the heck do I have to pay higher insurance premiums if half of my co-workers smoke and I don't. THAT is a risk assumed by them, knowingly. Why should I be forced to fund it?

If you you ask me that question my answer is no because back then that what i used to do. I risked my love's life to rescue someone that didnt even care. I blame myself for that coz supposing anything bad happens to him am sure i would be the one to suffer. So dear dont ever do that. Once beaten twice shy!

It may seem ridiculous to you, but what about their loved ones that are waiting on them to come home. Plus if you are givin the ability to save a man, "what would jesus do?" is a good way to look at these situations.

I was just thinking that same thing yesterday. But same goes for people who drive recklessly and get into crashes, should we have to help them? The list could go on and on.
