Has it really increased, or has the job market and skills needed to be in the workplace just changed and evolved?

Employment is cyclical.

Unemployment had increased before but has considerably decreased due to the computer coz if u have no job u can learn the simple aspects of the internet and get the job, so there is no chance of saying no employment , but many have to prepare for employing ur self, so there is no question of unemployment at all.

Unemployment has not increased. We are near a 40 year low, under 5%. 5% is generally considered full employment, because the 5% are those that are currently changing jobs, and aren't chronically unemployed.

Employment has changed, however. With computers to control machines and store data, humans are freed up to do other jobs. We have gone from a manufacturing society to a service society.

A computer needs only one man for it to function.But it can do the work of hundreds, even thousands of workers.Therefore, when the number of computers in any workplace increase, then the number of workers keep on decreasing.Thus, unemployment increases with the discovery of computers

Computers are doing work of many. Now companies are not requiring more persons for manual work. It is safe, accurate work done by single employee. Thus unemployment rouse.

That was the biggest fear in the 60's with robotics but for all these machines there is a need for skilled people to build and maintain them. I think it has stayed the same.

decrease in filing clerks, typist, lino typist, store clerks, and possibly teachers in future, etc
