Or would the mere thought of pain make you tell everything you knew?

Only few people in the world could resist interrogations, but this is often countered by the most ruthless interogators in the modern world.
First they try to scare you by feinting assualts and threats on you.
Most people would already crack to this actions.
Next they'll try to harm less important parts of your body. You know heated iron on your face, cutting of your fingers one by one.
The most iron will or careless of the physical appearances can resist this.
Next the real pain comes. They give you doses of pain in a steady state until you crack or if your about to die. They'll use things that can inflict pain in a steady state that you would embrace death than continue on( I think that the interogators are trying to give you a taste of hell).
Next, the life-threatening actions e.g. hanging you over a ledge.(mostly present in crime or mafia).
Another tactic used by crime or mafia, I don't know about goverment agencies, is by threatening to endager those you love. Very typical in the movies we see. The only ones that can survive this I guess are guilt free and remorseless cold blooded people.

So in conclusion no one can last through interrogation. Except possibly some strong willed ones, but eventually these types would most likely be dead at the end of an interogation.

I have been questioned before about an incident that happend at one of my jobs. I even had to take a voice stress test (kinda like a lie detector but only using the voice). I did fine though.

Ordinarily, I would say I could last, but I just watched the Wind that Shakes the Barley last night.

Fingernails pulled out with pliers. Yeuch.

Depends on what they want you to tell them. Going by the stuff I have seen in 24 I probably would squeal like a pig but you never really know until you are in that situation.

If I thought that they were going to kill me anyway, I wouldn't tell them anything. If I thought there was a chance they might let me live if I told them, I'd tell them what I knew.

People are tortured everyday for their religious beliefs and it's been happening since the beginning of time . If it was for my belief then I could stand it but that's the only reason !

I can hold out for the truth. I believe it truly does set us free. So, yes, I believe I can last. As long as it is for the good and the true.

The idea of pain is a great motivator... it also causes us to make the wrong desicions.
