Interesting question that can be regarded from several viewpoints. In my opinion what we know is what has been verified by scientific method, controlled observation, experimentation and replication of both. Belief is more fundamental, you can believe in anything, but you can know limited fields of information. Belief and knowledge are not distinct categories, since you have to have some sort of belief before you gain knowledge, at least in the methods of obtaining knowledge. Separate question is the nature of knowledge, what knowledge is a good one, real, true. Maybe there is no absolute knowledge, but what would come close are theories that have been verified many times and not once disputed. Most simply belief is when you consider something to be true although there is no hard evidence that it is true or not, and to know is to be sure something is real.

What can we truly know....it is actually a very small amount. We depend much more of belief that knowledge. Few facts exist. Your name and address. Your job. Their was a philosopher...Hume, John Hume is think was his name...he claimed we could not know anything...only believe. Will the sun rise tomorrow.? can we know for sure? Will I have my job tomorrow? Can I know for sure...we can make reasonable assumptions...but what can we actually know?

your convictions, what we know is what we can touch, what we believe is our faith(the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things unseen)i have to disagree with the saying seeing is believeing if you have faith you dont have to see with your eyes you see with your heart it doesnt have to be tangible
