Gandhiji became a barrister on his choice. In fact, he could not succeed in his profession and there were occassions when he could not meet the professional requirements. Further, there were occasions, when he had refunded the fees collected from his clients. But luckily, he got a chance of working as an Attorney for a company in South Africa through his brother. I firmly believe that Gandhiji would not have even dramnt of becoming a freedom fighter, as he needed courage and will power for being a fighter. By birth, he lacked in these qualities. But when he was in South Africa, he had developed the habbit of leading the community against the brutal racism. If we carefully observe his leadership, we can see that he had gathered courage phase by phase. First he used to submit petitions, later he successfully led the community. He had become so courageous that he used to disobey the mighty British empire. He might not have thought of becoming a freedom fighter when he was in South Africa. But it appears that he had decided to become freedom fighter when he came to India. This can be visible in every aspect of his fight-- be it, champaran, Khilafat movement, non cooperation movement, Dandi Satyagraha or Quit India movement. We can say by the time when he called of the non cooperation movement, he would have decided to be the leader of the nation.

Gandhi became a barrister by choice & the times he lived in then with Indians who loved their country rising against the British, he chose to be a freedom fighter too. he did not choose to become the father of the nation it was the nation looking upto him for guidance to achieve freedom that elevate him to that status.

Baristar-in-law can be studied only in UK.To do such studies in those period have been done by a few people, and those people can be very well remembered like, Gandhi,Nehru,Ambedkar,K.T.Panneerselvam and mostly those people had ambition in mind and have worked for good cause..Unless he had an option of his choice to have freedom to mankind gandhiji would not have gone to South Africa,he would have come to India and practised his lawyership. He had the intution ,ignition in his mind for liberation , and that led him to be freedom fighter and the Ultimatom of The Father of the Nation.
