It is a possibility, or he could also just be a very physical person. I have worked with several people over the years who are just naturally physical and touch nearly everybody they see.
If he starts making more intimate touches, then you will know for sure

If he isn't gay, he might just be a touchy person. Some people come from touchy families where all they do is touch each other all the time. If it annoys you just let him know, I bet you he doesn't even know he's doing it. Good luck!!

i've seen my favorite singer kissing his band mate on and off stage, but i'm sure he isn't.
same as your work mate, maybe he's just a little lonely, or just pissing you off. then again, depends on WHAT THE HELL HE TOUCHED, man!

Well depends on type of person he is some people have no reservations about being kind of touchy and stuff, personally I am the other way I like my personal space and expect other people to respect that, I dont invade there space they dont invade mine. If you feel uncomfortable about this just be honest and say.
