I wanting to know this because some people have been refused drinks at restaurants because they didn’t have another id and they were not drunk. If there are any states that does not allow passports for ID, please list them with the law code that shows this. Thank you.

Servers of alcohol receive training in identifying valid state licenses, but usually not passports. If they can't tell it's real, because they don't know how to tell, then I can see them turning it down. Yes, it's a legal document that should be an ideal form of ID, but a service establishment has a pretty open right to set their rules of service. Their butt is on the line if they get caught selling to underage folks.

I'm not aware of any state or local laws that forbid the use of passports, it's just that they may not be mentioned in any applicable laws/codes that set out acceptable forms of ID.

Hey, check the link. It has a summary of state Alcohol Identification Requirements as of 2002.

Most jackasses working in liquor stores wouldn't know what one is- Your best bet is to fork over the $15 to $50 dollars to get a state ID
