Currently it is 'Windows Vista'...But if you are asking about future version of windows, it is code-named as Windows 'Vienna'. It was also known as 'Blackcomb'. It is likely to be released in 2009, though no official announcement has yet been made.

While Windows Vista is intended to be an evolutionary release, Vienna is targeted directly at revolutionising the way users of the product interact with their PCs. It will introduce 'Live services', which means, even if you drop by somebody else's PC, it can bring down your home page, your files, your fonts, your favourites and those things.

Microsoft is not talking much about this OS yet. The project is at the moment simply being called as 'Windows 7 project'.

Well Microsoft’s 2 most popular & user friendly Operating Systems - Windows 98 & XP Professional, (not server level) rest all were totally failures including the latest VISTA. Now Mr. Gates is no more CEO, so a lot depends on the new CEO too, what will be his way of thinking & target would be? Mostly the next OS will be focused for palm tops & mobiles. Hope no new OS comes for the next 4-5 yrs atleast & if ever comes requirements of hardware should be down to earth.

Probably "AutoMenta" which will read your mind and behave as a super-brilliant close friend.

It will project images and statements directly into your brain and the monitor and keyboard will no longer be necessary.

You and your "Close Friend" will correspond mentally and a wireless multi-triga-base storage area in Seattle will file away all your data for you.

All of this will be serviced by a computer the size of a wrist-watch.
