well exactly. Who CAN say what is interesting about Auckland - it is just another big city with a dead city centre.

The volcanoes are interesting - there's a coast-to-coast walk you can do across the city which goes past some of them.

Also the museum is good and the Sky Tower's fun for good views. I recommend taking a boat trip to Devonport for a different perspective of the city without having to go too far - there are also good views from there of the Auckland skyline.

Plus it's quite nice down near the harbour.

I live in sydney and i visited auckland 3 years ago now. i found the Sky Tower a great site to see, especially the glass panels on the floor.
there was also a little steak house about a block away, can't remember what is was called, but it was olden style and everyone who visited from another country had their foreign currency stapled to the wall and you could also put your own photos underneath the glass top table tops.

Everything, it is the best. It's better when you have someone with you that knows the city. I had a great friend-tour guide while I was there, and it was fantastic.
