It usually takes 3-5 days depending on if the item was in rural Oregon or a larger city like Portland to start. Then you can't count the weekend or the Holiday yesterday in your days either (although they usually move items on the weekend, they don't deliver them).
The best way to find out where the item is is to use the tracking number (http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/r-packageTracker-s-ups) and see where it is at the moment. If you don't have the number, call the shipper and as them to give it to you or to look it up.

You can call UPS and ask, but when I ship that distance, it takes 3-4 days usually.
