I know it's not a dog, but I remember instances when people thought theirs to jump for food and flip. Quit trying to be a smartass. You're coming across as a dick. :P

the number one thing on every fishes mind is food, foodfoodfoodfood, food. it's what they live for.

so food based tricks can be done quite easily, such as feeding from your fingers, or jumping up for food. of course you just need patience and let the goldfish know that when your hand is hovering above the tank that means FOOD. they won't get very high out the water though, probably only their head out or so. still cute to watch though.

of course by feeding a goldfish above the water line you run the risk of them getting gas bubbles and swimbladder problems on their insides from gulping air. so very occasionally should be ok, but don't do it every day!

maybe you could invent a fishy "kong" style thing? put a few holes in a ping pong ball and put some food inside...let the fish bump the ball around to get the food out.

what trick do you want him to learn? i tought my 2 goldfish to be handfed by not feeding them for a day, and then with pinching flake food in my fingers, they will come and nibble it from your hand. But that is just my goldfish, it may take yours longer or a shortr period of time to learn but son't get discouraged! I also saw on the internet once that is a book all about fish tricks. try a web wearch of goldfish tricks, and you will probebly come across the book. I saw that they listed teaching them to go through hoops and even pushing a soccer ball into a net!

Actually, the mythbusters did manage to get the goldfish going through a maze by using food. after a while they did it without the food. You simply have to use conditioning and near-pavlovian techniques.

Everytime you feed your fish point a turned on flashlight down into the tank, do this for awhile, and eventually when you turn on the flashlight the fish will come thinking your about to feed them.

You probably can't. Mythbusters tried to teach some into memorizing the path to their food and they just failed.
