You don't purchase a child but you will make purchases for them for the rest of your life, until you die. I love how everyone trys to say until they're 18 or move out, that is such bull LOL. You may not have to provide for them after 18 but that doesn't mean they won't come back and need help and you will always be buying gifts for X-mas, B-days and then grandchildren.

i would have to say kids
i have paid off my college loans CC Truck almost done with mortgage and
i am still paying for the kids,
help with car ins rent food
bday presents Xmas i had one move back in after he got laid off
college loans etc.....
i can pay off all the bills and a kid will come and say i need help this month
i cant complain they have all put them selves through school mostly have worked even pt so if they need a little help im ook with it they are not dead beats at all and is that how a parent is suppose to raise them

Something you buy? An education to the sum of about 100K
Kids can not be considered an expensive purchase. You have them (hopfully because you want them), not buy them, and don't consider them a financial burden. With that said, I have no problem disignating my next million dollars to keeping my children happy until they can take care of themselves as adults.

Wedding. Some people spend more on that than on a car.
Its rather stupid to spend four times as much as the new husband makes in a year on your wedding.
"Hey Lets start off up to our eyeballs in debt!"
