Why can they not just be routed to someone in the UK?
Do you pay more for them being routed overseas?

They pay people in India a fraction of what they'd have to pay in the UK.

The number is usually an 0845 (UK local rate) or 0870 (UK national rate) number, so standard rates apply.

It is to cut costs, the labour is 10 times cheaper in India, the French do the same, they use people in Algeria, it stinks really, it is all to make more money for the company and puts your own people out of work

Because call centre workers in India are paid far less that in UK. It's all about the money I'm afraid

You pay a low flat fee but the work fee is so much cheaper. Think about the cost of land, construction and personal getting paid peanuts to work for a mega rich co.

Because it reduces costs for the company - the wages to staff there are a fraction to here - but then the cost of living is rather lower too - it's all relative!

i don't think you pay more. but the employers certainly pay less for their Indian workers than they would with UK ones
