The truth is Mecedez has a good name in South Africa, therefor everybody thinks, SSanyong has something to do with Mecedez, but because it is not a standard Mecedez motor and fitted by Mecedez, they do not work on SSanyong.

Mercedes merely supplies engines and engine-related parts to SsangYong. Indeed, this does not mean Mercedes has anything to do with building the rest of the car.
In the course of time, Mercedes has worked with numerous other car manufacturers by supplying them with engines. These come "as is" and are planted under the bonnet. Some ARO's were made with Mercedes engines as well.
ARO was a jeep-like car manufactured in Romania until some years ago. There should be some in South Africa. Many ARO's were sold in Africa in general because they are sturdy cars, seldomly break down and are easy to repair.
