A child under 10 should not be allowed to have most of those items - at least unsupervised.

Number one on my list would probably be a lighter or matches.

A water bed is probably not a big deal unless the kid has a habit of jumping on the bed.

There is no reason for a kid under 10 to have a cell phone. For the most part they don't really have a reason to be talking on the phone and they usually wouldn't be anywhere without mom or dad. If you do drop them off at the movies or something similar, and feel they need a cell, they have the ones for kids that only allow them to dial 3-4 preprogrammed numbers.

I think it's ok for a child under 10 to learn to ride a motorcycle or ATV and to learn to shoot (a BB gun or a real gun). However, these things should always be done with the supervision of an adult and the child should not have access to the thing on their own.

I don't think any kid should have a TV in their room. Although they are less likely to get in trouble with a TV than if they are unsupervised on the computer, I think unsupervised access to a TV leads to watching inappropriate content as well as encouraging poor study and sleep habits.

Hmm well, I'd have to say a lighter or matches. Although a child under 10 doesn't need a cell phone either, lighters and matches are dangerous for kids. BB guns are too I guess but they're a little different.

#3, #4 or #6

Water bed, cell phone, lighter/matches, TV in their bedroom, and motorcycle/ATV.

I'm inclined to say BB gun also, but I think there's a fine line between letting a child under 10 have one versus letting a child under 10 use one provided a responsible adult is there with them....

2)Waterbed...doesn't a child's still developing bones need the support of a firm mattress? Plus, it's an unnecessary extravagance!
3) My oldest got his cell on his 13th birthday, his siblings have to wait til then too!
6)no explanation needed...

My kids have BB guns, piggy banks, and TVs in their rooms. I dont want the responsibility of all the neighborhood kids playing on a trampoline in my yard! Me and my brother grew up with dirt bikes and snowmobiles!

I always had the glass piggy bank and it never did me any harm. LOL.

I would say no to the waterbed, BB gun (not til Age 15), trampoline, lighter and matches, and TV in the bedroom.

I wouldn't say no to the motorcycle or ATV, but it has to be used with training and supervision.
