If you've got a cylinder hoover, hoover out the holes in the side of the case. Then unplug it, unscrew the side of the case and have a look inside.
There'll be a fan inside, it shouldn't be clogged with dust and neither should any of the air vent holes. Hoover it all out without touching anything, then use cotton buds to clean the fan.
If theres a fan on the side of the case as well that can be cleaned with cotton buds and the hoover.
Put it back together and plug it in, see if it runs ok afterwards. It probably wants doing every 6 months to a year anyway.

It could be any one of a number of things: a virus, or overheating.

The suggestion to check the settings in the BIOS is a good one. Many PC's go into something called hysteria when overheating - it sporadically stops and freezes for a little while then tries to continue again. Do bear in mind some PC's don't do that at all but simply re-boots.

The fact that your's does so when the CPU is very active suggests an overheating problem to be the likely culprit.

You can download ccleaner for free here: http://bit.ly/1Bk5V5C

First open CCleaner
Go to the Cleaner tab and you will be confronted by a very confusing lineup of checkboxes.
To make this brief, below is my recommended setup:
Under internet explorer check temporary internet files, cookies, and last download location. Most users don't really need this stuff. keep history and bookmarks unchecked, history is a maybe, but you don't want to lose bookmarked sites. You can normally leave Windows Explorer, System, and Advanced alone.
Run CCleaner and it will start deleting files.
afterward it will present you with a list of the files deleted, you really don't need to go through it as it will be several pages long.
The registry cleaner is recommended for slightly more advanced users. Use it after uninstalling programs as they will often leave behind incorrect registry entries.
If you decide to run Registry cleaner then review the items detected and always back up the registry (I keep a folder aside for this)
The Tools tab lets you uninstall programs and set startup programs. Why do you need this if Windows has all of these features? Especially with Vista Home Ed. The windows defender software explorer( startup programs) doesn't pick up some entries (however software explorer is easier to use).
Using CCleaner to uninstall programs and then check for leftover registry entries takes less time.
Under Options you can determine how CCleaner cleans your files. I leave this alone.

the things u have mentioned here like playing games and burning disk dose makes CPU work hard and it wil produce more heat, a CPU fan is there over the heat sink of ur CPU, if that is cloged with dirt and is not spinning then CPU wil be over heated and wil cause a thermal shutdown, if ur PC is 1-2 year old then dust on fan may be the cause of trouble

if u can open the cabinet just see if your CPU fan is spinning or not, if it is working then u have to look for problem else were.

bad byte location at RAM chip may also cause shutdown without warning when the sytem tries to write or read from that location, its a manufacturing defect of RAM chip, if u have more than 1 ram module u can try removing one at a time then run ur system n observing for that shutdown problem.

Weak SMPS may also be problem, SMPS supplies power for ur entire PC, it wil also cause turning off if it is unable to fullfil the power requirement of ur PC. the power requirement do shoot up while playing game or burning CD.

last u look for loose or bad power connector, the power cable connecting ur PC to the power socket, try checking if ur cable is loose or wall socket is proper, run ur PC and move the cable and see if computer goes off..

hope that helps

If it give you a message "Remote Procedure has shut down your computer your computer will shutdown in 60 seconds, than it is a virous "Blaster32"Their are free program for it's removal & patch for it is also on microsoft site. Till you get those blaster removal tool you click Run and type in the box
Shutdown - A as I have written and tap enter. If it is due to over heating & your mother board support over heat monitor, enable it from BIOS other wise you will have to check manually. Processor should be burning hot. If the answer is yes than open the heat sink & clean it throughly. If your problem is still their than change the CPU Fan. Try to change the position of machine to some ventilated place & try.

Check that the machine is not overheating. Is the fan working, and is the grill blocked?
