Like, it was almost scary. I got the shakes and felt uncomfortable and just spaced. Did anyone else feel like this the first time they got high? And will that happen to me every time?

I felt like that the first time 2. But now that you know what to expect it will be fun. Becareful if you have any medical conditions it will keep happening. However, I am not condoning the use of drugs. This was when i was young and stupid.

Not personally. However, your "set and setting" may affect you. Were you alone, or with friends? At home, a friend's home, or some other, less familiar location. Granted, even if you were in the proper state of mind, it's possible that you are physically incompatible with drugs (or that particular drug), or simply had a bad experience.
Also, which drug was it?
