I lived in Ghana and it is the safest place you can visit in West Africa.Even though the economy is not good,Ghanaians make merry all year round.Every holiday gives them a cause to celebrate.Food is available along the streets to the restaurants. There are top class hotels and restaurants to give you an American treat. Most of the restaurants are foreign owned businesses: Lebanese,Indians,Chinese and others.Sorry,no MacDonalds.Sunny beaches, friendly people and quite an adventurous life.
The cheapest means of transport is the "tro tro" (commercial van or bus) transport. You wouldn't find it comfortable in a "tro tro" for the first time but i bet,it's full of adventure.
lots of night clubs. The city of Accra is never asleep. $1--9000 Ghanaian cedis, you might need some more money to keep you well insured.you can not fall on anybody for help in case you run out.Ghanaians frown at skimpy clothes but nobody cares who you put them on at night.Be careful not to attract unwanted attention when outside your country.

Ghana is one of the safest countries in Africa.
It has even a good financial level of life if compared with other countries in the Western Africa area.
People is nice, happy and affords life joyful.
Girls are pretty and easy to make friend.
Food is available everywhere, typical from Western Africa, cheap and always fresh:eat at the several stalls on the main streets.
Transportation is also very easy:move using the tro-tro, a kind of van picking up people along the main itineraries and the taxi, also almost convenient.
Night life in Accra and major cities is enjoyable and cheap.
Sightseeing includes natural parks, coastal Portuguese castles, some beaches not far from Cape Coast, the rest of the Ashanti.
Get the Ghanaian experience:Ghana is so addictive!

SigmaBeta and Phy A could not have expressed it better. But to add i will have you know that last year Ghanaians were voted as the 5th happiest people in the world, and trust me they are the friendlist people on earth. Its also so safe you find people walking around as late as 3 am though in every situation a breach of common sense is a breach of the tourists safety guide.

Ghana was great during the time in the 1960s when Kwame Nkrumah came to power in 1957 independence. Many African Americans came to retreat there. At one point even the great Maya Angelou lived and worked there with her son, whilst working as a journalist. Now I am not sure. I think having gone there several years back there is a serious problem with the current leader Mahama and huge gap between the rich and poor. The poor live in huts and barely survive and the rich live in huge villas. It can be quite intimidating digesting it all.
