Depends on why you had a c-section previously, how long ago it was, how many c-sections you have every had overall, how many babies you are carrying and how your current pregnancy is going.

It is possible to try for a VBAC but you will have to talk to your doctor more about it.

It may be a one line question but it's far from a one line answer!

It depends on WHY you had a c-section and how far you labored last time. If you were complete and the baby's heart rate dropped, then you may have a chance to have a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean). If you had a c-section because the baby was too big, you'll most likely need a c-section again.

However, the trend now is going back to "once a c-section, always a c-section". Doctors are starting to steer clear of VBAC's again because of the chance of uterine rupture, which can be deadly to both mom and baby. Talk with your doctor and make an informed decision. As long as you understand the risk involved, and you can find a doctor who will support your decision, you should at least get to try to labor. Good luck!

In most areas of the US once you have had a C-section you will have another. Not many doctors are willing to take the one in a million risk of uterine rupture if they let you deliver naturally after a C-section. I have had two C-sections and this is the explination the doctor gave me. Although he said some doctors will let you go naturally if the first baby was breech or something like that where it had nothing to do with your body not wanting to deliver but that is very, very rare.

Not necessarily but possibility is higher. I had c section with my first baby because cervix of the uterus didn't open enough. Next time i had same problem though doc said that i have a big chance to deliver naturally. Plus baby was 4.5 kg so i end up with c section again.
good luck :-)

If you've had a C section before, you will have one again.
