First of all if you weigh over 30 pounds forget about it, you'd be way too fat. Modeling agencies want walking skeletons and try to get them just before they pass out.
And now, our latest line of fashions designed with the concentration camp survivor in mind... Low cut in the back so the shoulder blades don't slice up the material.

It is a tough industry to just get into, but that doesn't mean things may not fall in you favor. I would begin by seeking a professional photographer, one who could offer you some advise. Photographer's know the industry well, and will know right away what your up against. Only professionals though can really give you that constructive critiscim you need, and produce the best head shots. You are going to be very dependant on those head shots looking the very best as they are going to give the agency first impression (first impression is everything) Age is the most important factor most agencies want young (18-24), and anything above that is starting to get iffy. Not to say it won't happen, but odds start stacking. Be prepared they are ruthless, and have no shame in calling it like it is. Famous expression that defintley applies "One day your in, and the next you're out!" Good luck you are going to need it.

The best thing to do is look in the back of magazines for girls - YM, Cosmo, them sort of magazines. They usually have a number to call modeling agencies such as Barbazon etc.
I must warn you, you may not get anywhere, I've been to two different modeling agency meeting things. There are tons of girls their from extremely ugly to extremely pretty.
The first agency was telling everyone they have a good chance - even my Mom who was in her late 30s, short, overweight, & had horrible nails - she bites them almost to the cuticle, she was not attractive (I love her, but this is the honest truth) & they were trying to get her to sign up too. They tried to give every girl - even ones w/out hope (the dreadful ones) - hope, all they want is your money. You pay so much money to take classes, class after class, money after money, & it does not guarentee you a dang thing. Just desperate hope & an empty pocket.
The other agency I've been to were more picky about the girls & did not let everyone have a chance, but they did give a lot of girls the opertunity - even ones that weren't all that pretty as well, but you had to have a couple thousand dollars to start, & then again, no guarentee, & you just keep dishing out money for this & that. But if you have the extra cash & time to waste, than give it a try.

I don't think the age matters unless you look old. There are still modle in their late 30s who look very young. Like my mother for example, she's 39 and it always being mistaken for my twin and you can say she's a model. But jus search tha web for modeling agencies in your area.
