Ink, The Book of All Hours, by Hal Duncan.
This is part two, the follow-up to Vellum and is just as bonkers as the first part. I read endlessly and would say that I can understand pretty much any plot line but I'd be surprised if I manage to keep a grasp on this. It looks like it was written in several novellas then chopped up and refitted. Not sure that it matters though: it kinda works, hence me buying part 2!!
