In case you're just trying to connect now: Xbox Live is currently in Maintenance. Therefore you're unable to connect just now.
Quote from Major Nelson's Webblog: "On Tuesday February 20th from 0200-0500 PT Xbox Live will be offline for maintenance."

MTU = Maximum Transmission Unit.
Its the size of a single packet that can be sent through a network.

Depending on the devices, that you use to connect to the internet, the standard MTU might be too big. Normally these Packets will be broken up into smaller parts and then reassembled. However, in some cases, the "other end" of your Internet connection is unable to recieve fragmented packets and is also unable to recieve the packet in one piece due to its size.

Ask your Internet Provider or the Microsoft Hotline on how to fix this problem, as there are too many sources for this error.

you'll get a instantaneous adapter for the xbox, yet that is expensive (round one hundred$). yet another decision, is connecting a pc to the xbox and utilising it as a instantaneous adapter with ICS (internet connection sharing) - search for youtube for it once you've an interest in that. yet another decision would properly be utilising a change, it is type of a "station" for the cable, the position you are able to connect yet another cable from it on your pc, yet figuring out to purchase a protracted ethernet cable is more beneficial trouble-free - you'll get one in any known pc / recreation enthusiasts keep.
