This is not an easy question to answer because space scince has been around for a long time. Gallelio and Copernicus had significant impact on the field of space science. But ancient Egyptians were observing the stars and building their pyramids alligned with the constellations long before that.

But if you want to talk about gathering data from space observation, Edwin Hubble would be a great candidate. He was the first to discover that the universe was expanding by observing the stars from his telescope.

There are many other great people who contributed greately to space science, but you can't really say who actually discovered space science.

You may as well ask who discovered fire. Astronomy has been done since Sumerian times if not before and that is at least 5500 years.
