The one that comes built-in to Linux is great! It comes as part of the "coreutils" package:

http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/coreutils

Simply type "ftp" at the command line prompt. It is the most reliable FTP I have ever used.

There are also GUIs, such as KftpGrabber:

For Mac OS X GUIs, use CyberDuck:

But of course, you can't use the GUIs in scripts.

DAP (Download Accelerator Plus). the unregistered version works fine, just has add banners around the side, but no pop ups. It supposedly lets u download faster, but the main reason i like it is because you can pause/ stop the download and start it again the next week or whenever it suits you, without having to start again.
