Amont = Base x percent
Find percent when the base and amount are known
2456 = base
1973 = amount
amount / base = percent
1973 / 2456 = 0.803338762
Multiply the decimal by 100 and attach the % sign
0.803338762 x 100 = 80.33387622 %
80.33 % rounded to two decimal places
1973 is 80.33 % of 2456

To calculate percentage, u write the total number as the denominator and the one for which u r finding the percentage as numerator and multiply the fraction by 100. For ex in this case.
Percentage = People who said yes / Total no. of people x 100
= 1973 / 2456 x 100
= 80.33%
