I have an existing Sky satellite TV connection.
I purchased a Sky+ box (used, from Ebay) and want to replace my old Sky box with the Sky+ box I just got.
will my Sky viewing card work straight away in the new box or is it somehow 'locked' to only work with my old box. (Had Sky originally installed in September 2004, that s how old my viewing card is and have a Thomson Sky Box currently).
If the card will not work right away, what do I need to do?
Thanks for your help.

yikes,

The sky+ box needs two cables into it, whereas your sky box has only one!!!!!!!!. So you will need to contact sky to get the installation done 08705 959595 anyway.

Reson for this is to gfet the pause, hard drive etc running.

Your old card MIGHT work with your new sky+ box, if it does then all you have done is replaced the box and gained nothing, expect having to pay £60 installion fee to benefit from your new box

Sorry to give you bad news wg

You will have to marry your card to it's new box by contacting Sky.

You can't just switch boxes, you have to pay an extra subscription to get sky plus, I think £10 a month, unless you have more than one premium channel. Otherwise, you will still get bog standard sky, even with the pgraded box.
I doubt you will need a new card, but you will have to call to upgrade.
