Nope. I feel that religion gives God a bad name.

It makes God out to be a judgmental punishing jerk.

I am pretty sure that the real God is not the psychopath that religion makes Him/Her out to be.

Love and blessings Don

The familiarity of the phrase "Faith in God" demonstrates how much it is misused through lack of thought. Many years ago, in amiable debate, the then Archbishop of Canterbury pointed out how foolish it is. You can "believe" in God, or all sorts of things. That implies certainty from which one can deduce potential outcomes. But "faith" is a mind-set of its own, without subject, or expectation - it simply is. Not even a confidence that all will be well. Simply a willingness to proceed in life and the universe. So faith is rare, and rarest amongst the religious, as we agreed! His belief in a god had been shaken, and all he had was faith. I think the idea of a god is un-necessary and a ridiculous, primitive assumption to comfort the ignorant. So paradoxically we agreed we both had faith, and parted friends. So why wonder whether to believe in the questionable reports of questionable activities done by a questionable supenatural being or in the name of such a being (which, being human, are as often malicious as otherwise, and mostly self-interested). The Universe is enough. Spirituality is a sense of kinship with everything in it. But that doesn't mean one has to like it all! Good luck

I'd be interested in know which activities you mean.

Do I believe that God causes all of the bad things that happen in the world? No. Do I believe that God makes things happen? No.
Do I believe that God made the world and created people? Yes.

Rereading your question I see you mean what we, humans, do in the name of God.

Again there is a range of activities. Some things are totally off the wall. Often times people blame things on God. Instead of acknowledging that people make choices as a result of our choices we help or hurt others. God didn't make us do what we do. We choose to help or hurt. We choose our activities based on who we are and in part on what our relationship with God is.

So no I don't believe in all the things that are done in the name of God. But to specify them would be way to long and to specify those I do believe again would be longer.

The short answer is: I thing God wants us to respect and be good to each other. He gave us life and calls us to cherish our life and the life of othersl. Activities flowing from that I wholeheartedly support,

Thanks for the question!

Some of it seems a little crazy like suicide bombers, the crusades, and of course protesting things like the big bang theory and evolution with violence. It's this "mass idealism" that if someone is different they are wrong and should pay for it that rightfully gives masses of people bad names no matter how great or powerful their cause. This has been going on all of history and thou the name of God is used quite a bit it isn't always involved (example: Nazi Germany). So, the violence and need to destroy all things different is a human trait, but to convince the masses to put all goodness aside and become involved one needs a cause. God always gets people fired up. Also, I try to remember that all people have beliefs. Most of those who have beliefs have faith. And Most of those who have faith have religion. It's the last of the three that ride the band wagon.

God created us with a purpose on this planet. I do believe that God has a reason for everything. We human beings are not perfect enough to understand God's plan. I am one person that never undertakes anything without asking God to guide me along the way. If the result is good I know that God meant it to be and if it is bad then God had another plan. There is a time and place for everything in God's plan. Many religious rules/directives are man made. One must use their one intellect, powers of reasoning to implement these rules/directives. Many use the name of God for personal gain - this I do not believe in.

I believe in all the activities done in the name of God. I am a particular fan of organ music and most of the best was written for the church. However that does not mean he/she exists.

I dont agree with this. All the activities done in the name of god is bogous. God never created or made any custom in worshipping him. What current we see is the act of human not god.

God is the creator of mankind. this might be right or wrong. there are many who believe god exists n many who believes he doesn't. Many activities are going on in the name of god. Are they really done to please god? once if we ask this question to ourselves, what would be our answer? it would be NO. we always pray god to ask something for ourselves. but are we doing anything to god? NO. It is said that helping others is like helping god. so are we helping others?NO. But we are doing many activities in the name of the god. These might be political, or for some money or for some benefit.

Do pray god that all must be safe with pure heart. Do something for others behalf of spending lot of money in the name of god. Help the poor on the steps of temples, churches or mosques. it is useful. Dont spoil the name of god because of some benefit you get through it.
