How big a second moon, and how would it arise? Suppose an asteroid comes in at such an orbit as to be trapped by our gravity.Since asteroids are small, there would be slight effect on our rotation, influencing the length of our days a bit. But if a large object, near the size of our present moon came in, it could influence tides and rotation enough to influence volcanic activity, with massive negative consequences to our climate. If such a large object struck our moon, an even worse disaster would occur, with the likelihood of impact on the Earth's surface, ending our civilization.

we've a 2d moon suitable now, regardless of the undeniable fact that it quite is small--purely some yards for the time of. And it quite is not in a solid orbit. 2003 YN107 would be long gone in some years. so some distance as one orbiting the earth like the moon does--perhaps a small one at between the earth-moon Lagrange factors. there is yet another, 5Km for the time of, it quite is co-orbiting the sunlight with us in an eccentric orbit.

awww...if we were to have a second moon the tides of the oceans will change..there will probably be areas with very low (lower than the lowest we usually have) tides and areas with super high tides..of course, when that happens, islands that have peaks close to sea level or worse, below sea level can be easily flooded and vanish! imagine that...no more bahamas and maldiives and sri lanka and all those other little paradise islands...

if the orbits are near to each other the y will collide .this will affect the tides. it will increase or decrease the speed of earth 's rotation and revolution
