Most cough remedies do little more than make vast quantities of money for pharmaceutical companies. If you do choose to buy one please check the label as many have quite a high alcohol content. They mainly work by placebo and soothing the throat for a few minutes after taking them. Try a hot solution of honey and lemon or even just sucking a spoonful of honey when the tickle gets too much.

The only safe remedy has to me non medicinal. I always have hot honey and lemon in a drink. Most doctors will tell you that cough medicines dont work that well anyway.

Hi, If you're pregnant then there aren't any safe medicinal treatments I'm afraid. I had a couple of bouts of the same thing when I was pregnant and found that sucking fruit pastilles or boiled sweets helped soothe my throat and tickly cough. Hope you feel better soon.

I'd stick with chamomile tea. You can also take fresh lemon juice and mix it with honey to soothe your throat.

You can make peppermint tea, pour it into a bowl, put a towel over it and your head under the towel and breathe the steam, that will help clear your lungs out.

Depends for which age group
Under 18 I would say, hot water (let it cool down a tad before drinking!), honey and lemon.
For 18 years and up add a very small amount of whisky.
Hope you are feeling better soon.

Make up a jelly and sip the liquid instead of letting it set. this is also excellent for when children have summer coughs and can't sleep
