i would say thank you, but i can't accept your offer. i'd feel that he/she is gracious and the person is sweet. but, i wouldn't want to have to feel like i should get incentive for doing the right thing.

i'd stand there and contemplate it with an unsure expression, then refuse it. then hopefully he'd protest to my decision, then i'd look unsure for a tiny bit longer, then hesitantly take the money. yeeha!!!
