Ugh...you probably might have a GHOST in your house! ;-) --- just kidding...

No, serious, I have no clue what caused that problem - but, maybe, another one might have the right answer for your problem. Good luck!

Greetings from Germany!!

PS: "Brad" gave you a good answer, I think...

Hi,

Try these steps one by one....

1) Type msconfig in the run dialog box->that will open the system configuration utility windows->then go to the start-up tab->at the bottom of the window, select disable all button. Then click apply and OK. It will prompt you to restart the computer and then you restart. Then check if it works or not....
I think it will.

In case you need some more help on this, get me at desirablesumit@yahoo.com

Cheers

1. Check to make sure that it is not a scedules task. ( Control panel, scheduled tasks)
2. The bios chip of your pc can be set to do something like that. next time your pc is loading up, hold down f8 ( i think its f8... the screen will tell u what to hold down to enter setup). Browse around the settings and make sure that no settings there are making it happen. i cant tell u exactly what to look for because ur bios chip is probably different to mine.
3. There is this really cool thing u can access by typing something in the "start, run" area, but i cant remember it sorry :( It allows you to make schedualed shutdowns of your computer, and even other computers on the network. i think that is your problem. Its something like "i-shutdown"..... man, i cant remember exactly what it is but its something along those lines. Ill get my brother. *walks out of room*............*walks back in* ok. go to start, click on run. type in "shutdown -i"
actually, now that i look at it, it doesnt look like it would be ur problem.... but at least u know how to shut down other computers on the network :P How cool is that!!!!!
sorry bout that. try the bios chip. ide say that is ur best bet.

i know how to fix this

Click "START" > Control Panel > then look at the left and switch to classic view (if not already in it) Look for an icon called sceduled tasks > you have a great chance of seeing something about your computer restarting > if you do right click it and delete

and no i never had this problem

If this works vote this as a best answer ;)

Get an uninterrupted power supply. They're cheap. All you have to loose is a few cycles on the commercial power grid and your machine will restart.

May be you have accidently set such command on your system or May be it is a virus, which activates at the same time. .....but its all my guess. You have not mentioned the Os you are using ...As i think...its better to make backup of your important files and format your system..after that it will be OK
