ok you go to control panel, then double click on user accounts find your account and click on your account. on the next window click on create a password. type the password and confirm the password then type a hint just in case you forget. once you do all of the three click on create password. log off and system will ask you for a password to log back on to your account. now if you wanted to add an account for your daughter so she doesn't use yours( well now she can't use anymore) you would follow the same steps but instead of clicking on your account you would click on "create a new account" and follow the steps you will get to a step where you can choose what kind of account to give her, a limited will be great because if you give her an adminitrator account she might be able to change yours.

good luck

go to control panel...user accounts...click your administrator name and there should be a option to set a password. Now when you start the computer your user name will require a password to continue. Hopes this helps

depends on which version of Windows are you talking about. If you are still using Win98/98SE, you're out of luck, doesn't matter you have set the pw or not, just a click of escape or cancel, people can get in.

XP and Vista are diff. They offer more protection, even if you have multiple accounts. If you want to setup a PW to block other out of your Windows, here's how:

Start >> Control Panel >> User Accounts >> if you have only one account on this computer, then select that account, inside it, you'll see create password option, enter your pw, re-enter again in the other box, if you want to hint in case your forgot, then type in the below box, then click OK to save. From now on, you must enter your pw in order to log in your windows. But anyone who is good at computer, he/she can override that PW and able to login without even knowing your pw, but i don't say how it done here.

Now, if you want to block someone out of your computer totally, i'm talking about not even see the windows screen, then you would use the BIOS PW settings, this will prevent someone to turn on the computer, not to mention to see the Windows Log-in screen.

To access your BIOS settings, restart your computer, tap on either F1, F2, or Del key (depends on your computer manufactory setup). Once you're in it, PLEASE do not change anything in it, but your PW. Once u're done, hit F10 to save your settings and exit, it will ask you to confirm, type Y to confirm and exit. From now on, it will ask you for the PW before the computer boot on. This is more secure than the Windows, but still overrideable too (but harder).

Hope this help.
