Have a 93 jeep grand cherokee laredo, just did new shocks and ball joints. when ever i get to about 55-60 mph it just starts to shake violently. when you slow down it stops and you can accelarate again and sometimes it doesn't happen at all. When l say shakes violently l mean it feels like the wheels are going to fall off. The shop said everything else is tight, and l believed them on the principle that they are always looking to fix something else, but l still have issues.

Sounds like your Jeep needs a Balance and Rotation on all four tires, I'm almost sure if you get this done, you will cruise smooth all the way up to 100mph, i go to WAL-MART, one time fee of $30.00 for Lifetime Balance and Rotation. try them out if available.

Again im sure this will solve your "shaking and Vibration" Complete Balance an Rotation.

Best wishes.

Double check the track bar. This can be done on the ground with the help of an assistant. Have somebody rock the steering wheel back and forth while you watch the balljoint end of the track bar. If it moves up and down, replace it. The track bar is what holds the axle centered under the vehicle. The shaking is most likely the sxle wandering back and forth. I've seen this many times and while the steering damper helps, the main cause is the track bar.

This isn't going to answer your question, this is to reply to the others that have attempted to answer your question. An alignment will not cause a vehicle to shake unless it is so far out that the wheels are almost pointed at each other.

My guess would be the track-bar, balance, or steering stabilizer.

Shaking can be caused by many things, bad tire{out of balance or just plain crap....wal-mart is good for having junk tires}. Out of aline, bent or messed up drive shaft/s wrongly aligned drive shafts{4wd}, bad joints, and everything else that the others have mentioned

Your tires need to be aligned along with a front alignment should have been done while you car was being repaired..
Now take it back where you had the work done and insist that they do it right this time and for FREE!.
