good question and yes it is on the mind of most. it is now almost 4 am in the morning. i have some difficulty to finish my sleep and for a good reason: worry. Not sure what exactly but worry is one factor. so -- the semi-cure while my knowledge and typing are still with me i like to answer yahoo answers. thus this is one idea. many other ideas abound -- taking a drink ( i do not do it interferes with the medicine that the dr. prescribed) --taking a glass of wine with no exaggeration or just taking a Valium/instead and not being addicted just temporary measure. other long term measures --travel if u have the money and the time, sports if you have the energy and the will, animal lover in cats and dogs if you like animals and the list goes on to everyone his taste and his responsibility and his finances. but since "finances" are at the top of our worries -- automatically those issues and ideas related to more spending are erased from the map. lately i took up the study of religion not in a fanatic way but philosophical way and the book contents help me a lot ...i feel better already. i recommend to those people inclined to be "perplexed". not for the atheists. hope it helps.

I say the best way would be, Taking steps to relax and body and mind (in addition to getting adequate sleep) can be enormously healing. Relaxation techniques can add enormous power to other holistic healing techniques. make gradual changes which will allow deep relaxation and the healing and vitality that comes with it to become an increasing part of your life.
Occasional challenges, both physical and psychological, are not unhealthy for most people. Occasional challenging projects, arguments, difficulties with children, difficulties at work/school, etc. are a normal part of life. These types of stresses are normal and can actually be strengthening. The goal is not necessarily to avoid all stressful events, but to develop the ability to relax during day-to-day activities and during challenging occurences (such as those mentioned above). Try and Add something beautiful to your life on a daily basis (e.g., Do some enjoyable activities whenever possible. Walk, work, and eat at a relaxed pace. During the day, whenever you remember, notice and tension in your body (jaw, neck, diaphram, shoulders, etc.). Breath deeply and gently stretch and relax any tense areas. If you notice your mind racing or worrying about the past or future, take a minute to breath deeply and gently focus on something in the moment such as your breath, scenery, birds. Avoid holding in feelings day after day, but instead, find a safe place to feel, express and embrace them. I hope that you take the time to do some of them, and I wish you all the best for the future.

Sorry to hear that you are stressed. Perhaps you will be afforded some relief by engaging in some activity or hobby that you generally enjoy and derive some pleasure from. Alternatively, you might want to immerse yourself in a nice warm bath (with aromatherapy oils such as Lavender) and relax while listening to a plentiful supply of soothing music. Isolate yourself from whatever (or whoever) causes you stress and distract yourself. Whatever you choose to do, I hope that it works and that you are soon stress free.
Best wishes, J

Gardening, or just walking around a gardening centre is very therapeutic. Walking in a forest, or lying in a field and looking up at the blue sky - if there is one in England, I don't know. I find painting very relaxing and absorbing. Perhaps you can take up a night class in something you are interested in. A lot of men take up pottery to de-stress. Do something entirely differant frm your normal daily activities.

While your cleaning, try putting on some calming music to sooth yourself. When your showering, make your water a little warmer to relax you. When your working, think that you'll be home soon. Try to cook your more favorite foods, or multi-step dinners to keep your minds off of the holidays. When your wrapping and shopping, remember that christmas is in 2 days.
