Didn't they just move away from that connect about 2 years ago?

Because they want to. Cingular was part of SBC. SBC and AT&T merged and changed the name to AT&T. Now they're wanting it to be universal throughout the company.

SBC and Bellsouth owned Cingular.
Cingular bought ATT Wireless.
SBC bought ATT.
SBC and Bellsouth merged into ATT.
ATT changes Cingular Wireless as part of the New ATT.

AT & T is a more recognizable name. They have been around longer, more people trust them.
