Given this is Travel/Japan and not Pipedreams About Writing A Book/Japan, I would suggest jumping on a plane and then making your way over to the Japan Sea area for a look around. Real authors often do that. I have yet to read the Acknowledgements in any novel and see "Great thanks to all the people on Y!A for helping out with all the various details in this rag of a novel." DYFR. Google time NOTE: It said the Japan sea side. What do you want, directions and a free frickin' ticket? Now, back to your little rag destined for failure. And don't forget to mention Y!A as a source in your comments. It will add so much credibility to your standing as an author. No doubt you have a poorly paying job. Do you use Y!A to find out answers to your assignments for work also?

Japan consists of several thousands of islands, of which Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu and Shikoku are the four largest. Japan's closest neighbors are Korea, Russia and China. The Sea of Japan separates the Asian continent from the Japanese archipelago.

East Asia I think. It's on that side of the planet where the Sun comes up each day.
