Does anyone actually like Jar-Jar Binks?

I can't think of a more unpopular character in the history of Star Wars.

Jar Jar is okay. Star Wars fans are a finicky bunch and they dont like anyone messing with their ideas of what Star Wars should be- and that even includes Lucas sometimes! I think most of the uproar was over the fact that a) Jar Jar was computer animated and this was so different from the other characters they didn't know how to handle him and b) he added a dose of comedy into the film. SW fans take the movie so seriously that the bit of obvious comedy unsettled them. But if you noticed, by the time Episode 2 came out there was only a mild grumbling among die hard fans about Jar Jar's appearance. I think by that time they had gotten used to him.

I'm sure someone does. And I probably wouldn't like that person. Honestly, the damn thing was just so annoying and so INCREDIBLY childish that it just killed what little credibility the movie had(which wasn't much by that point). Star Wars was never meant to be a kid friendly movie - Darth Vader choking his own subordinates, people dying by the hundreds in large space battles, an entire planet blowing the heck up, The Rancor...the list goes on. Star Wars was great, and Lucas killed it. Jar Jar was, for me, the final nail in the coffin, but by no means the only part of Episode 1 that sucked. I mean, come on now - even most prebubescant boys want to kill it, and THEY were more or less the intended audience of that fan-forsaken character! *sigh* I really hate Jar Jar.

**** the haters, **** them all, jar jar Bink's is awesome, the prequels are awesome, and when the 50 year old man-children who hate to admit star wars is kid friendly all die, future people will look back and love the prequels as much as all the other films. Jar jar is no worse than a walking carpet who is half sasquatch half briard who yells gurrorar, a wheeling deodriant can who just goes bleep blap bloop and a camp golden robot. I don't see how an African frog rabbit is any sillier.

I think most die hard Star Wars fans have watched Episode I one time (maybe two just to make sure that the movie sucked just as bad as they thought the first go around). Jar Jar is the equivilent of the Anime comic relief. He serves no purpose but to be funny. George Lucas broke a cardinal rule of filmmaking: don't work with children or animals (even digital ones).

The Phantom Menace was bad enough, and to make it worse we got Jar Jar Binks. I recon it was just to appeal to little kids, with more slapstick comedy around they needed a "comic relief".

I love jar jar, he adds a bit of comedy to the story, dont know why everyone hates him so much. Meesa jar jar binks. I think people didnt like his comedic antics and because of thet, his role was toned down in episode two, although he was stupid to hand over emergency power to the senator palpatine thus stemming the creation of the republic.
