Don't forget the Ponting factor. Although losing 6 games in a row is alarming, and very unusual in fact. (I think you would have to go back over 10 years since the last time Australia lost 6 games in a row!) Ponting has been absent for all but the first of the 6, and he is an inspirational leader, but incredible batsman.
Australia will have to tighten up for the cup, which they will do, but don't read too much into it. They will still be there for the semi's at least.
If you don't contain Ponting, Gilchrist, and Hussey you will be chasing scores of 300+ every time....

Oh Happy Days. At long last we screwed them big time. This has shut a few mouthy Aussies up. Sheer Bliss. Thank-you K1 Cricket team. I owe U a beer. But the bloody Aussies have a reputation for coming back strong. This will also take a lot of pressure off. These preliminary games are a sounding board. Blood a few new guys, give them pressure and see how they react. So all beware. They will come out full of fight when it really matters. The World Cup is everything. The C&H Cup is not important.

no i dnt think this will affect the out come 4 the Aussies in the world cup, i still say the selectors have messed around with this team enuf. When will they learn they done this in the last world cup & nearly lost it, were is stuart Clark ??????? i dnt think the Aussie can win the world cup with there line up. I am an annoyed Aussie who wishes the selectors would realise wot they r doing. btw it woz not a 3 nil white wash they only played 2 of the 3 games.

It was a remarkable and fantastic performance by New Zeland to fight back after loosing 4 early top order batsman for the score of just 41 runs and then to score 350 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. Full credit should be given to New Zeland. By this victory, New Zeland have sent a clear warning to all the teams that they ae not at all push overs and can fight to win the world cup. The 3rd straight defeat at the hands of New Zeland has shattered the morale of Australan team and their world cup hopes.

It's nothing but Ponting factor. If you remember, Australia went through the same phase when Ghilchrist was captaining. I believe that team breaks apart in the absence of Ponting.
Things will settle once Ponting comes back. Their losses may reduce, but I feel Australia will remain vulnerable.

You can never completely trust the ozzies to back-off like that. But after the 181, a fractured toe could prove to be a psychological blow. With their best players retiring, perhaps the dominance can shift to another team, hopefully India.

I went to the interest at Eden Park, Auckland tonite. the place i became into sitting i did no longer observe many Kiwi followers booing the Aussies anthem. yet once you have been watching the interest on television the it is going to of been greater substantial ! And if that became into the case then, particular, shame on some Kiwi followers for doing that. yet I tell what I did observe on the interest and that became into the quantity of intoxicated human beings there ! ok, quite often Kiwis yet in addition English and Aussie followers ( because of the fact they have been wearing there communities colorings ). i wish for the Rugby international cup organisers that it incredibly is appeared after out in the past next years RWC. i are conscious of it became right into a double-header (Eng v PNG ) yet I observed some heated exchanges between followers with of course too lots booze in them ( no longer adequate scrutiny by ability of the protection tonite ) And yeah, I forgot to point we've been thoroughly out-performed and out-classed by ability of the Kangaroos tonite. next week a greater valuable overall performance by ability of the Kiwis is obligatory or we are able to lose lower back to a matching score. p.s -what incidents in the interest makes you think of the Kiwis have been a grimy group ?

The Aussies are still posting big scores, they just need their young bowlers to bowl a bit tighter, and with the capitan-ponting back in the side i think they'll be alright.
