They believe it because other ethnic groups already in the UK have told them all about our benefits systems, thus when they arrive here they expect special treatment, does that make sense.

I feel deeply sorry for you, as you are most obviously an uneducated and ignorant person.
But to answer your question, Im a sikh woman born in the UK, so I receive the same resources, benefits, education etc as you do. My parents came here in the 60s with virtual nothing and have since been able to work everyday of their lives, my family has never received benefits, own their own homes and live a good and honest life. Many culture that have come over to the UK, have worked incredible hard and are well educated and cultured, we respect our families and values. If that is not a positive, I dont know what is.
There also seems to be no mention of teenage pregnancies, young girls receiving homes and benefits. I am yet to see a indian girl in my community do this, although Im sure there are a cases.
Im glad that the UK has brought so many different culture over for us to understand, explore and question. How are you to gain knowledge without this? Would our paths had ever crossed before?
I remember my father telling me the days of signs with "no blacks, no Irish and no dogs", we have come so far since.
The only piece of advise I can give to you is that you cant paint everyone with the same brush. Educate yourself and think outside the box and maybe you will be able to answer your question. Good luck.

I don't believe that people from ethnic backgrounds do get special treatment. The current tide of economic migrants are people who are coming here to work, who were often willing to risk their life just for the chance of a better life. People don't risk their life to then go on benefits and just get by. And as for people claiming asylum, maybe they wait for the country they know they have the best chance of being treated fairly in. I am really proud to come from a country that will give refuge to people when they need it most - to me that is what being British is all about.

this is a sensitive topic, and has recently stirred up some debate at the college where I work. For many people, myself included, it initially seems counter-intuitive and illogical that in order to achieve 'equal' opportunities you are often seen to be giving preferential treatment to a certain group. But the argument is that it is not a level playing field, and to be treated truly equally, some groups have to be given the opportunity to 'catch up', there is an imbalance that needs to be redressed before truly impartial treatment will work fairly.
That's the logic, and when I consider it I can see a sense in it. However, I do believe that there have been instances where this positive discrimination has been clumsily over-applied with little effort to inform people as to the reasons, and this unfortunately give fuel to the racists and bigots amongst us.

Ignoring the wording of your question, here's the answer:
Minorities are discriminated against all the time in our society. Any "special treatment" on their behalf is simply trying to restore the balance of discrimination. When discrimination and prejudice stop, special treatment will no longer be necessary.

Why do some whites feel that ALL minorities cry for special treatment? I'll tell you, ignorance. Just because an individual is "ethnic", as you call us, doesn't mean they came from dire straits or possess an uneducated mind. You generalize and you shouldn't. Many of us actually break free from that stigma, but your tunnel vision fails to see it and that's too bad.

As Madge said,

"Mostly they don't But there is one section of society that wishes to take over the world with their ideology, if you are referring to them, yes they do make demands but they're in a minority so it'll never happen in the UK "

however, they will at least have taken over parts of the UK in about 20years time.

So you know what every single person from an ethnic background believes, do you? You ought to be on tele with such psychic ability.

I'd like to ask you a question. Why do complete cretins feel that they are justified in generalising about subjects which they know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT?

Why do people with caucasian heritage feel they should continue to be in control and have the power to keep other ethnic groups down and deny them the same rights and priveledges and begrudge those who try to make it right for EVERYONE?

Here we go again....blah, blah, blah, about ethnic minorities. For God's sake GIVE IT A REST!!
I'm sick of hearing about:
what people think others are entitled to or not,
what they should or should not wear,
What religion (if any) they should or should not adhere to.

I don't give a monkeys what others are doing, eating, driving, where they are living, if they have more or less than me etc.,
I JUST DON'T WANT TO KNOW, I have my own life to lead and mind my own business. That's what you should do, instead of trying to stir up things. get on with your own life for God's sake.....
