Could someone explain to me just what is the purpose of playing golf? What is the basic structure of the game? Why should i spend a whole day playing it and how do you know if you're the winner? This question may sound stupit but i just dont get it. Maybe if someone could explain this to a person who just dont understand the game.

Well obviously golf is a sport or game that is played for several reasons depending on who you are. For some people it's a way to relax and get outside for some exercise (if you walk the course, not if you ride in a cart). For others it's a way to compete against other golfers, but mostly, you're competing against yourself. Golf is one of the most difficult sports in the world to play well. It is an incredible test of your will, patience and ability to focus. It often takes years of practice and play to become an even passable player, and a level of dedication that many people do not possess. It is a game that can teach you alot about yourself and even change who you are. So that being said, here is a very simple explanation of the actual game...

Golf is played on a course, usually consisting of 18 different "holes".
A golf hole can be a par 3, par 4, or par 5. Par indicates how many strokes (swings) you are allowed to put the ball in the hole. If you score below par on a hole that's very good, if you score over par that's bad. When you see a score on TV and it's something like -8, that means that player has a cumulative score that is 8 strokes below Par for the round or tournament.
You are allowed fourteen clubs to play golf, but you don't have to have all fourteen to play. Each club has a different loft, or angle to the face; so this makes each club capable of hitting the ball different distances. So a 3-iron usually has a face angle of 23 degrees, and can therefore hit the ball further than say a 9 iron that has a face angle of 44 degrees. Each club is also a different length, which affects how far each one can hit the ball.

A round of golf doesn't take all day either, it usually is finished in between 4 and 4 and a half hours. If it takes longer than that then you (or the group in front of you) are playing too slow. If you really want to try golf you would be doing yourself a HUGE favor to get a lesson from a PGA professional at your local driving range. It might be expensive, but if you can get a package of 3-6 lessons and read a good instructional book like "Ben Hogan's Five Lessons" then it will make the game much more fun and rewarding than teaching yourself, in addition to money well spent in the long run. The funny thing about golf is that it's the only game in the world you can actually get worse at by practicing... because you have to do it right to get better. If you do it wrong you are in for a lifetime of frustation.

I hope that helped!

First you get a cooler of beer and a cart. Then you find a score card. Try to get the little white ball in the hole by hitting it with a bat in fewer bat strokes then your competitors.

If you see competitors kicking their little white ball out of the tall weeds after they have hit it off the fairway, they are cheating and they probably have a bad habit called slicing. Then after you play the game several times you will become handicapped, but you will play much better. It's a great game

If you can believe this, hitting one good shot out of 100 makes the whole day worth it!

The ball is on that little T-thing
Hold onto the club
swing it back.....................................

Hit the bal towards the hole!!!
Keep hitting until the ball goes into the hole!!!!
