Someone must not think an elephant is a mammal when in reality it is.

Your question is a little vague. But, I can answer it easily.

Biggest. This could be longest, heaviest, or bulkiest.

The longest, heaviest, and bulkiest animal in the world (counting extinct animals) is the blue whale. This is a huge animal. Much bigger than an elephant or even a large truck or a single train car.

The longest extinct animal is the Diplodocus, a very long, but short in height, dinosaur. This is a species of sauropod.

The heaviest and bulkiest extinct animal is the Brachiosaurus, a very heavy dinosaur. It was huge, and unique in having forelimbs bigger than hindlimbs. This is the largest species of sauropod. Bigger than the Brontosaurus (Apatosaurus).

The longest and heaviest extinct land mammal was the Baluchitherium. It was as tall as a giraff. But, it was longer than it was tall. This was a large hooved mammal.

The longest, bulkiest, and heaviest still-living land mammal is the African elephant. This is even bigger than the familiar Indian African. Very similar in appearance, but much more fierce and difficult to train.

This list could be huge itself. But, in short, your answer is the blue whale (Sibbaldus musculus). This species of whale is a baleen whale (it has baleen plates instead of teeth) closely related to the rorquals.
