I used to be an extreme introvert - and never moved outside of my comfort zone. As a result I never had any friends and never developed my self-esteem.
Only when I made the concious decision to be more open did I really start enjoying life. And I consider myself pretty well-adjusted right now.
I think it is a very difficult task to balance time between new friends and old friends, especially if the 2 circles do not mix. I find it a very difficult thing to balance. But if your friendships are true, both the old and new friends would accomodate your time with either group...

I'm okay if i'm in my zone. If people I don't know come into it, then I'm fine and open with them but if I leave it I become a bit more reserved. I love meeting new people but I don't like going to places I'm not used to.

It can be uncomfortable (for sure), thrilling, alien, scary and surprisingly funny, even if it doesn't make sense.
